I'm a Seoul-based, Korean American journalist with a special affinity for reporting on all things North and South Korea, particularly in the realms of politics, culture and social issues. Even so, there's no story I won't chase, and I've covered everything from K-pop to geopolitics.
I currently work as a Korea Correspondent for Bloomberg BNA (as a contractor), but I also freelance in print, digital, radio and TV for many other news organizations around the world. I have worked with TIME, Quartz, BBC, The Boston Globe, PRI, Deutsche Welles, The Sunday Times and many more. My reporting has also taken me to many parts of the world, including various cities in the U.S., South Korea, Japan and India. Some memorable moments: I've reported from the scene of the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang, where I interviewed olympic medalists such as Michelle Kwan and Gus Kenworthy. I've spent a day following defectors to the DMZ as they sent illegal foreign media to North Korea for one story, sat in on six Overeaters Anonymous meetings for another, and followed three homeless families in Boston over the course of two years. My reporting has also taken me inside of tenements in Chinatown, thanks to the kindness of its residents. I previously worked as a reporter covering South Korea and science around the world for Mic. I also worked as a digital editor at The GroundTruth Project, a nonprofit international news organization in Boston focusing on social justice issues. Thanks for visiting my site, and feel free to get in touch. |
